Wydaho Snow: 11.18.15: Huckleberry Hotsprings and GTNP Obs

Today I checked out the new snow adorning the grandest Tetons and took my chances against death by "amoebic meningoencephalitis" near the ruined remnants of Huckleberry Hotsprings... The Feds make a lot of silly statements, and the stress of worrying about everything they tell you to worry about will probably kill you before amoebic meningoencephalitis does. The latest storm came and went without bringing the precip levels anyone hoped for. This morning we got a lot of wind with gusts up to 133 mph atop Mt Coffin and 75 mph atop Rendezvous Mt, but snow accumulations at upper elevations stayed in the single digits. Please bear in mind that geoengineering is screwing up the climate globally, which includes current Wydaho snow and temp trends. Maybe wind deposited drifts on leeward slopes at upper elevations offered good skiing today, but Targhee is closed to uphill traffic, and TP smelled like a shitshow starring everyone, their roommates, their brother, their brother's roommates, etc... As such I didn't plan on skiing today until -- while bartending last night -- a fishing guide friend told me he'd seen substantial snowpack up by Flagg Ranch in the J.A. Rockafucker Parkway. I have heard that West Yellowstone currently has more snow than we do, so I figured it was at least as worth a look as this old newspaper headline. Thermal features are off limits to swimming and geothermal energy development in the J.A. Rockafucker Parkway. Not surprisingly, J.A. owned coal and oil interests threatened by the massive geothermal power potential presented by the area now "protected" as Greater Yellowstone. His apparent motto: Screw the people. Screw the planet. Save the geysers and my profits! RT, WD, and I loaded up the SLAAB and headed North after a dank breakfast at the Silver Dollar Grill. We were in no big rush getting out of town and it worked out in our favor: the clouds blew away just as we crested Fish Hatchery hill, and the Tetons sported a bodacious bukkake of fresh flakes.
