An Open Letter to Nikki Forrester
May we do what we can as politely and pursuasively as possible.
Hello Nikki,
I recently watched The Dimming documentary by Geoengineering Watch. I found it thought provoking so I decided to share it. Your fact check article came up to make me reconsider when I shared it with my friends on Facebook. I read your insights, and appreciate your perspective. I visited your website and read a few of your other writings. I couldn't help noticing that you haven't been publishing much lately and am curious why that might be.
All that said, I encourage you to dive into the geoengineering issue more deeply. We all know that weather modification has been around for the better part of a century and that geoengineering has been a proposed mitigation strategy for climate change since the early 2000s. These are well established facts.
Few career academics even consider the possibility that these technologies could already have been implemented for less idealistic purposes than saving the planet. It is not a comfortable thing to consider. Openly pondering it can get someone labelled a "conspiracy theorist" and kill a person's career in mainstream academia. Why is that?
We are all on our own journey through life and have our own opinions. I'll share a little of my story with you. Back in 2008 I was so upset about CO2-driven climate change and the complete lack of commitment to tackling the problem that I decided to do something about it. I sold most of my stuff, swore I would never own another automobile, swore I would never fly again, and bought a small sailboat to sustainably travel the world showcasing how it was possible to have a fun, adventurous life without abusing fossil fuels. While I was sailing from Portland, Oregon to South America I spent a lot of time looking at the sky because there wasn't much else to look at. I saw a lot of aircraft leaving lingering trails that occasionally persisted and spread until what had been a bright blue clear sky was obscured by a hideous high haze. Like any lover of nature this obviously angered me, but I just chalked it up to normal aviation.
After a few years at sea I sold the boat and flew back to the states, feeling good about the experience but frustrated because my efforts to live sustainably and raise awareness had not been as successful as I had hoped. I knew I had a lot more to learn so I took a job as assistant to a reputable investigative journalist based just north of San Francisco. I had picked up quite the surfing habit during my sailing adventure, so I spent a lot of time sitting in the ocean trying to catch waves when I wasn't at work.
One day in 2012 I got up early and was in the water right at first light. As the sun rose I saw something unusual in the sky. Being just N of San Francisco there was a lot of air traffic and I could see several jets leaving normal contrails that dissipated quickly. One jet that appeared to be flying at the same altitude was leaving a massive, billowing trail that lingered and spread. Oddly this trail would materialize and disappear abruptly: as the plane flew across the sky it would alternatively leave the big billowing trail, then no lingering trail, then the big billowing trail, then no trail, etc. It struck me as rather odd and compelling.
That same day I stopped in at a little corner market for coffee on my way in to work. On the bulletin board out front there was a flier made by a local woman named Rosalind Peterson who had her own perspective on the unnatural lines in the sky. That led me into looking into the whole issue more deeply. At first I was very skeptical, but the more I learned about the history of weather modification and the geoengineering technologies that had already been in development for decades, the more open I became to the possibility that the technologies had already been implemented.
Twelve years later I have learned a lot more about the climate issue than I previously assumed possible. Of course we're all aware that humans are trashing the planet and that CO2 has a warming influence. That is not in dispute. There is also no disputing the disturbing lines in the sky or the fascinating history of weather modification technology. I encourage you to step out on a limb and explore possibilities that most mainstream academics never consider.
Perhaps this line of reasoning will help you on your way. When humans harnessed internal combustion those technologies were rapidly deployed for profit (cars, trucks, etc) and power (tanks, warships, etc). When humans learned how to fly -- airplanes -- that technology was swiftly harnessed for the pursuit of profit and -- via weaponization -- power. When humans unlocked the mysteries of matter we rapidly evolved into a world with nuclear bombs and power plants: try convincing the Japanese that the technology wasn’t covertly developed and deployed. When humans learned how to modify genes we rapidly got profitable GMOs and powerful bioweapons (sometimes simultaneousy). When humans developed advanced computing these technologies were rapidly deployed in the pursuit of profit (big tech, big business, etc) and power (big govt, military uses, widespread surveillance, etc). All that considered...
Silver iodide cloud seeding was patented in 1946 and rapidly deployed in weather modification programs seeking -- you guessed it -- profit and power. Over the ensuing decades hundreds of other patents have been issued in the realm of weather modification and geoengineering. Assuming that these technologies would not be harnessed by corporations and governments programmed to maximize profits and consolidate power is a pretty big assumption with very little historical precedent.
Anyway, thanks for reading all of this. I encourage you to read, watch, and listen to a lot more on the topic before dipping your toe into those surprisingly deep waters once again. The extensive mainstream newspaper, scientific journal, and magazine article archive at climateviewer.com is a great place to start.
Sincerely,
Max Edward Mogren
I enjoyed this. Thank you. There is one bone of contention: "and that CO2 has a warming influence. That is not in dispute."
It is very much in dispute that this influence is of any significance whatsoever. VERY much in dispute. Ill guess that somewhere around half of America sees it as political horseshit.
