So happy to find you. I lived in Jackson in 1975-76. I was a ski-bum/but worked at the original Wort as a bus girl/hostess. Had a b-pass which was 375.00, and stand-by on the tram. My highschool sweet heart and I, and another buddy traveled out West from Pa. 1 year after we sewed our own hang gliders and camped across the country, flying any spot we could find,.. out to Big sur, and Oregon,.. then living in Jackson for the winter, even hanglided off Targee(they actually let us take our kites on the chair lift. !)(and then almost got in trouble..)
after that year of skiing every day(i actually learned to ski at 18yrs… and did not go to college.) I was a singer songwriter, and performed weekly at casche creek, and Sogourner Inn. I sang with Paul Hartman. After that my high school sweetheart started college at OSU. I didnt want to leave Jackson, but I followed him. Then after a year away from Pa, I decided to truck back East to save some more money. My high school sweetheart took off with the kite and flew just to the side of Glory bowl off the pass. He banked his kite too hard and went into a dive at 200 ft. crashing in the trees. I flew out west with his 20 yr old ashes and his parents and I spread his ashes at the top of Rendezfous bowl around Sept. 1. I hiked down the mountain myself singing him songs all the way down. My life was hanged forever. Having fallen in love in Jackson and living there, singing ther, and flying there, I always wanted to return and live there. I met John and we began singeing and writing together. we got married and had three children. I took them all to Jackson, to show them where I had my life changed. Jackson still is very sacred to me. I am 57 now. We bought beautiful land in South western Virginia State in the mountains. My husband used to tell me that they were trying to kill us with the spraying. At first(because my husband is an activist, didnt want to believe him. but now .. i am sure… so anyway, when I stumbled on your site, and saw the radicle pics, it reminded me of my high school sweetheart David, and thought He would have been fighting like you are out there in Jackson. Thank you for your work and love and passion for the earth and for the sacred Tetons.
